Many families are invested in giving back to their community and teaching their children the importance of this. At Kindness For Kids of Union County, our goal is to provide for the kids of Union County, NJ and to increase community involvement in giving back. For the past 10 years, the team has successfully run the Backpack Challenge. The Backpack Challenge requires collecting all the necessary donation items a child would need for the school year and then assembling the backpacks to distribute to the children of Union County.
We sincerely think getting your family involved in completing this backpack challenge is a great way to educate your children on the needs of our community and a great bonding experience for the family. So grab your loved ones and a list from below to head to the store and pick out the items needed to fill a backpack with school supplies and donate to a child in need.
You may be thinking, different age students need different supplies, how do we know what supplies to include? Below are lists of supplies needed in different age groups. Reference the list below to include all the supplies needed for a student to start their school year off right!
- Pre-school small new backpack, box of 24 crayons, 1 box of washable markers, 1 set of watercolors, 3 glue sticks, 2 bottles of 4 oz. glue
- Grades K-2 1 new backpack, 2 boxes of 24 crayons, 1 pack of washable markers, 1 pack of colored pencils, 1 pink eraser, 1 pencil box(or pouch), 4 dry-erase markers, 3 glue sticks, 2 bottles of 4 oz. glue, 1 ruler, 1 pair of blunt tip scissors, 2 wide-ruled spiral notebooks, 1 pack of wide-ruled paper, 2 twin pocket folders, 24 no. 2 pencils, 1 wide-ruled composition notebook
