For the past 10 years our team has worked hard to come together with the community of Union County, NJ to complete the backpack challenge. This challenge provides backpacks full of new school supplies for the year to students in need. Please help us make our 11th year of collecting school supplies for children in foster care our biggest ever!
Getting new backpacks and school supplies are an essential part of going back to school for any child. While most of us may think of going back to school as a fun and exciting time, not every child in Union County has the means to get new backpacks or school supplies each year. Many of these kids need new backpacks and supplies as they head back to school this September. This drive helps the children in need feel like all the other kids in their classes when their lives are anything but normal.
Please help these children get a better jump start to this school year by donating school supplies from the lists below. For a family project you can even put a whole backpack filled with school supplies together to donate. We believe it is so important to encourage excitement around academic achievement and returning to school. Your donation and support can make a huge difference in that effort for our local children!
Kindness For Kids of Union County will be collecting these items: small new backpacks, new backpacks, crayons, colored pencils, erasers, washable markers, pencils, pens, wide-ruled composition notebooks, glue sticks, bottles of glue, wide-ruled spiral notebooks, wide-ruled lined paper, 2 twin-pocket folders, blunt tip scissors, 7in scissors, college-ruled paper, large 2” binders, calculators, scientific calculators, dividers, dry erase markers, protractors, pencil boxes(or pouches), highlighters, sharpies, rulers, and other school supplies we may have missed in this list.
